The ThingSpeak Communication Library for Arduino, ESP8266 and ESP32 has been updated to support using AT commands with ESP8266 hardware.
Most ESP8266 devices ship with firmware that accepts AT commands. This allows another micro-controller to use the ESP8266 as a Wi-Fi peripheral board.
Examples and wiring diagrams have also been added with this release, v1.5.0. The AT command examples are here: https://github.com/mathworks/thingspeak-arduino/tree/master/examples/ESP8266/via%20AT%20commands
Other Espressify related changes in this release:
- Reduced the memory allocated at run-time when writing to multiple fields.
- Fixed a bug that was causing slow channel write operations on ESP8266 device.
